I provide performance psychology support for both coaches and athletes. I have acted in a sport psychology support role to international athletes, international amateur boxers and inter-county senior hurling and football teams since 2011. I have also worked with representative rugby union players and athletes across sports such as golf, rowing, tennis, hockey, badminton, soccer, basketball, swimming and Irish dancing.
I am a Level 2 Accredited Coach Education Tutor (GAA) with Coaching Ireland since 2007 and more recently, designed and deliver a bespoke performance psychology education module for the GAA's national coach education programme. This module is for nationwide delivery of the Award 2 GAA coaching course in both hurling and Gaelic football.
I have published peer reviewed scientific research on attentional focus for elite athletes as part of my MSc research and I have used this knowledge to empower and improve teams and athletes that I work with. I have a strong coaching background, particularly in GAA sports and I have previously acted as a manager, skills, and strength & conditioning coach with various sports teams (GAA, basketball, rugby & soccer) from development level to club senior and inter-county level.
My main areas of work are around the following
Group Dynamics, Team Culture and Cohesion
Attentional Focus, Relaxation and Anxiety Control
Mental Skills - Self-talk, Visualisation and Goal Setting
Motivation and Confidence
Management and Coaching Leadership.
I also have a strong background and experience in positive mental health and well-being. I have presented to parents, community groups and young people on a variety of issues around mental health including anxiety, depression, exercise deficiency, social media / gaming addiction, general well-being, motivation and other areas.
From a playing perspective, I have played hurling competitively to University (UL) and club senior level (Co Clare), while I have played soccer competitively from underage up to club junior and university senior level. I have also played Gaelic football and rugby competitively and enjoy a game of golf when my time allows. As such, I have significant levels of understanding of what various athletes can experience and this enables me to develop bespoke solutions to suit your needs.
I have recently developed on online sport psychology course covering everything to do with mental skills training that is hosted on Udemy. See link below for significantly discounted rate.
